It is truly commendable that, even amidst the challenges of the COVID-19 lockdown, we teachers have remained deeply concerned about ensuring that children in our government schools do not fall behind in their studies.
Isn’t it possible, then, that during the lockdown, a child’s home itself could become their school? Just as a school has different bells marking different periods, each dedicated to specific subjects, where teachers teach, students ask questions, interact, and learn—couldn’t something similar happen at home, without children physically coming to school?
While it is true that nothing can fully replace a real school, technology can help bridge this gap to some extent. Keeping this in mind, Teachers of Bihar took the initiative to re the idea of turning parents’ mobile phones into a ‘virtual school’ for children for a limited period. Here, teachers conduct classes online, following a schedule similar to that of a school, ensuring continuity of learning.
This vision became a reality through the 'The teachers future makers (TFM)' initiative, an innovative step by Teachers of Bihar, making learning accessible at home and keeping children engaged and educated, even during these unprecedented times.
